Dedicated Veterinary Ophthalmology Services
For The Waikato

WVO is a peripatetic veterinary ophthalmology service, working with local practices to treat companion animals in the Waikato at a number of convenient locations. We offer full ophthalmic examination and advanced diagnostics including tonometry, gonioscopy and ocular ultrasound. We routinely perform eyelid, conjunctival, and corneal surgery. Diagnostic workups to investigate blindness, ocular pain, uveitis, and ocular manifestations of systemic disease are also a big part of what we do. It is a great privilege to help provide ophthalmology services to companion animals in the Waikato region.

About Jack Newton-Jackson

Jack Newton-Jackson is a local veterinary surgeon with training and experience in ophthalmology. After graduating from Massey University in 2017, Jack spent five years in the UK working in mixed practice, mostly in rural areas. During this time, Jack developed an interest in ophthalmology, completing a post graduate certificate in small animal ophthalmology in 2022. Jack has also completed further studies in veterinary public health as well as emergency medicine and surgery. After returning to Aotearoa, Jack worked for three years in a busy Christchurch practice, seeing eye patients referred from all over the South Island. Upon returning home to the mighty Waikato, Jack established a peripatetic ophthalmology service, working alongside local practices to care for eye patients in the region. Jack continues to work as a general practice vet and has an active role in promoting veterinary continued education in his field.

What We Offer

🔬

Comprehensive Ophthalmic Assessment

Advanced diagnostics are also available such as gonioscopy to examine the drainage angle of the eye and ophthalmic ultrasound to examine and measure the internal structures.
